The Gaming Cap

Challenge

Enable people with hearing impairments to feel the sound of games, transforming audio into a new 360º tactile and immersive experience, breaking down old accessibility barriers.

Solution

Co-created with VMLY&R and developed for Dell Technologies, as well as relying on all the expertise of the AbleGamers and AME teams, Bolha has realized the creation of this new wearable device. The Gaming Cap is an innovative accessibility tool, allowing hearing-impaired gamers to have a full and immersive experience, without missing out on game information that is usually provided by sound stimuli.

The Gaming Cap is a project that involves design, technology, prototyping, manufacturing, excellence, hope, overcoming and, above all, purpose. A series of vibrators installed in the cap is responsible for generating tactile stimuli, the cap has a processor that converts the sound frequency into intensity, speed and by vibration zone, firing to the sensors the order (sequence), duration and force with which they should vibrate - this creates a 360º tactile experience that can guide deaf players about what happens around their character in the game.

Bolha worked on all the engineering of the project, as well as the product design and the cap itself, which was produced exclusively for this project.
